How to clean the induction hob

Oil, gravy, food residues: cleaning after cooking can turn into one of the most annoying household chores to do.

Not if you have an induction hob, where there is no dirt capable of compromising our serenity. Removing any type of stain thus becomes child's play, all you need is the right tools. With a single precaution: be careful not to leave scratches. That's how.

Dry dirt

Water, a cloth, a paper towel: that's all you need for effective routine cleaning of your induction hob. In fact, to remove grains of dust and light veining, it is sufficient to moisten a cloth (perhaps microfibre) or a soft sponge and pass delicately over the affected areas, drying after the operation with a bit of paper or a kitchen towel.

A few more suggestions

Even if spilled food cannot burn on the glass, still try to remove it immediately after use, with the plate off and now cold;
If you can, choose distilled water over tap water, so you don't leave any lime deposits on the surface.

Fat and oil

If fat or oil stains have formed during cooking, you can help yourself with a little mild detergent: dishwashing liquid is fine. Pour a drop on the dampened sponge and rub lightly, then rinse with a damp cloth and dry.

Some further suggestions: before use, shake the bottle of the detergent to prevent the contents from being too thick; finally, at least once a week, clean the surface with a solution of water and white vinegar.

Stubborn dirt

When the stains are more resistant, use the special glass scraper provided together with a solution of vinegar and baking soda. Leave it on for a few minutes and then lift the encrustations once they have softened.

A few more suggestions

Never use rough objects such as steel wool and abrasive sponges instead of the scraper;
If there are signs of melted plastic, sugar or food containing sugar, remove them immediately: they could damage the hob.

Always remember

To clean the hob after each use, to always use pans with clean bottoms and never drag them across the plates.
