Fridge and freezer, how to clean them

Indispensable among kitchen appliances, are the ones we open most often.

We happily get ice cream for our son, iced tea for a friend, a soda to quench our thirst and, several times a day, the foods we want to eat. Keeping them clean and sanitized is essential for our health and that of our family. For them to work properly and last longer, they need to be cleaned often and carefully, but also easily.

Let's find out together how to clean the fridge and freezer:

  • Empty completely the refrigerator and the freezer
  • Scrub the inside surfaces with water and vinegar (or bicarbonate of sodium) or alternatively you can use detergents provided they are not abrasive, better if they do not generate foam, in order to facilitate rinsing.
  • For thorough cleaning disassemble the shelves and accessories if possible so as to reach all the interstices.
  • To catch the water that drips during washing, place a towel on the bottom of the refrigerator.
  • Pay special attention to the garnishes: wash them and then wipe them with the talcum powder or oilFor the freezer, defrost it using the appropriate plastic spatula, do not use never blades or steel tools; the cleaner will be the same as in the refrigerator, the main thing is dry the inside very well
  • In vacation homes, which remain closed for a while, remember to leave the refrigerator doors open, after switching it off and cleaning it, to avoid the formation of mold and bad smells.

HOW TO DEFROST THE FRIDGE AND FREEZER

Remove the frost from refrigerator it is an operation that must be carried out at least once a year for prolong longevity of the appliance.
So here are some simple steps to follow to make the job require much less time and effort than you might think.

  • At this point we remove the various shelves and drawers inside and place them in the sink.
  • After that we place some basins filled with hot water inside the appliance, by doing so we speed up the defrosting process.
  • Let's not forget about spread some rags on the ground to absorb the water that will form in the meantime.
  • Once all these operations have been performed, finally, remove the excess ice and frost with a plastic spatula and dry everything well.
